Safety Week

Safety Week is an annual ACC event when we encourage all of New Zealand to stop and think about home safety. In 2012, the focus will be on reducing falls in the home.

Why falls? Because falls are the major cause of injury in the home and it’s not just the young and elderly who are at risk. Last year, 25 to 64 year olds made up 40% of all home falls, with over 107,000 claims. Two thirds of those claims were from people in the workforce.

Safety Week is a great way to raise awareness about the risks of falls and injuries in the home for everyone: your friends, family, staff, and the community. We provide access to printed resources, tips, interactive tools and communication packs that you can use to help reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.

Slips, trips and falls are the major cause of home injuries. A simple thing like a badly placed ladder or not wiping up a spill could have a huge impact on you and your family.
